4. Maintain your wardrobe.
You will remain confident, comfortable, and less tempted to go shopping when you wear clothes that are clean and in good condition (this goes for shoes too). It is important to wash your clothes with the recommended water temperatures and drying instructions. For those big or
small wrinkles that appear out of the blue, invest in a good steamer to prolong the life of your clothes as well. Replace clothes that are no longer in good condition.
No matter your style, there is one thing that’s true, we all wear clothes. So, why not look great in them? Oftentimes, fashion trends change quickly, and updating your wardrobe frequently can become difficult to keep up with what is in style- not to mention how expensive it can become. However, we came up with a few of our own favorite wardrobe tricks to keep up with the everchanging world of fashion, for the fashionista on a budget.
1. Take inventory of what you already have.
Take the time to go through your current wardrobe and make note of how many items of clothing you have in each of the following categories: short and long-sleeved shirts, jeans, dress pants, cardigans/sweaters, socks, undergarments, shorts, accessories, etc. Now, do you have multiple items that are very similar to one another? Do you have 3 grey cardigans and zero short sleeved shirts? You may consider selling the duplicate items to a consignment shop. Multiple outfits can be put together using just a few items, use your next shopping trip to focus only on filling the gaps in your wardrobe. By knowing what you already own, you’ll save time and money!
2. Buy your size.
People often buy the size they want to be or grow in-to in the future, and we do not recommend doing so. There is really no point in buying a piece of clothing if it doesn’t fit you right. Clothes, and shoes, look best (and feel best) when they fit correctly. Feel free to sit, stand, and even do a little dance when trying on clothes. You’ll be happy to be wearing clothes that fit, and more confident as well!
5. Never pay full price.
There are many options when it comes to buying clothes, but you don’t always have to pay full price. When shopping for clothes, always check clearance sections- it never hurts to peek. Consignment stores, like ours, carry clothes that are high quality and in style. In fact, you can often find clothes with the tags still on! Also, try shopping out of season. The most expensive time to shop for fall clothes, is in the fall.
Always remember that money does not buy you fashion. Anything is fashionable when you wear it comfortably and confidently! Your fashion comes from within YOU. Take the time to venture out and create your own style – and you’ll find you won’t need to break the bank to do it!
